The tension that has engulfed the state in the last three days has been finally put to rest after former Governor of Lagos State and National leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu put is weight behind the second term ambition of the incumbent Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Reports based on DELE MOMODU twitter handle emerged during the week that Tinubu and Ambode were no longer on good terms and the APC leader was looking to replace him as the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 elections.
The rumour gain more credence when more than 50 LG and LCDA chairmen pledge their support for Jide Sanwoolu, whom it was believed to be the preferred candidate of Tinubu and influential party leaders.
However, after numerous consultation which saw him seek the intervention of powerful figures in Abuja and indeed the presidency, President Buhari and Vice President were believed to have intervened and Tinubu has finally decided to allow his estranged godson contest the state governorship election with his blessings.
This much was confirmed when the wife of Asiwaju Tinubu and other politically influential persons paid a visit to Ambode at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja on Thursday.
